Family-friendly October fun in Chicagoland:

The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival: Oct 3 through Oct 9! Carnival, pumpkin carving, lighted pumpkin display, costume contest, activities for kids, live music, food and adult beverage area.

Sonny Acres Farm – West Chicago: The annual Fall Festival runs through October 31! Enjoy hayrides, corn mazes, pony rides, pumpkin patches and tasty treat.  Haunted Hayride on Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 7pm – 10pm. Other attractions open daily 10am – 6pm. See website for admission fees.

All Seasons Apple Orchard – Woodstock: Explore the 12-acre corn maze with over 3 miles of pathways! Browse the farm market. Take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch and climb the hay mountain. There are pony rides for the kids, along with a petting zoo and a mini zip line. Open daily through November 1. Hours vary; see website for details and fees.

Johansen Farms – Bolingbrook: A kid-centered experience fun for the whole family! New this year is the miniature golf course, free with zoo admission. The children’s zoo features over 500 friendly animals. Enjoy hay rides, trains rides, pony rides and more. Shop seasonal décor, pick pumpkins, and buy tasty treats at the pie house and bakery. Richardson Adventure Farm – Spring Grove: Home of the world’s largest corn maze! Wagon rides, pig races, zip line, pedal carts and more. See website for hours and admission fees.

Spooky Zoo Spectacular – Lincoln Park Zoo: Oct 29! Safe and family-friendly environment. Halloween-inspired activities and crafts, plus treats for the kids. Costumes welcome!

Chicagoland Haunted Houses for the Freaky Fearless

Basement of the Dead – Aurora: You will not be the same after visiting this top-ranked horror site! Ranked #1 by Chicago Tribune and listed among the best in the nation. The less said the better. See it for yourself. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Midnight Terror Haunted House – Oak Lawn: One of the newest haunted attractions in IL. Nasty, edgy, and brutal. Everything you’d want in a good scare.

Statesville Haunted Prison – Crest Hill: Not for the easy-queasy! The Statesville Haunted Prison and City of the Dead is among the top scares in the country. Test your nerves through 40 rooms of horror as you’re confronted by 140 undead creeps. Ghastly visuals and plenty of surprises.

Dungeon of Doom – Zion: This is top-tier terror for experienced haunted house-goers. Imaginative, gory, and truly shocking. Theme areas include the “Kill Room,” “Underworld Dwellers,” “Hades Boiler Room” and many more.
