Illinois Free Days at the Museum of Science and Industry – weekdays only, through January. Basic museum entry is free for all Illinois residents who show valid proof of residency! Note, the Omnimax films, Coal Mine exhibit and U-505 onboard tours require separate admission. Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Free Admissions – January 18. In honor of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., several Chicago museums and attractions are offering free admission to Illinois residents with valid I.D. Participating institutions include:
- Adler Planetarium
- Art Institute of Chicago
- Chicago History Museum
- Museum of Science and Industry
- Shedd Aquarium
- Brookfield Zoo

Chicago Restaurant Week – January 22 through February 4. Restaurant Week features over 250 participating restaurants offering palate-pleasing cuisine. You name it, it’s here: Italian, French, Spanish, Korean, Thai, American favorites and more! Feast at neighborhood favorites and explore trendy downtown eateries. There are special fixed-price, multi-course meals offered at participating restaurants across Chicago and the suburbs. One catch: make your reservations in advance!
